In my second addition book, I isolate the nostalgia chapter of my self-published book, Lost And Found : A Sign Photography Book. This second addition book takes a closer look at historical ads and products that we associate with classic advertising, like this Coca-Cola Ad. On a trip south in December 2013, we stopped in Richmond VA in the early morning hours. The streets were quiet, with a hint of drizzle and a vibrant sunrise tried to peek through the clouds. I was captivated by the aqua marine blue against the red background of the Coca-Cola logo. It's almost like a flavor of your favorite food that you want to taste forever. I was happy to find this Church Hill icon and take a photograph. Many thanks to Mr. Dorland for suggesting I stop.
This sign is only visible during the winter, while the vegetation is hibernating. Wilcox's is across the Putnam bridge from Marietta Ohio & was established in 1906 by proprietor A.C.Wilcox. Dealt in Groceries, Tobacco, Cigars, Clothing, Chinaware, Glassware, Graniteware and Notions. The city of Marietta was first established during railroad expansion in the mid 1800's. Marietta then achieved great success when oil was discovered in the region and brought wealth to the city in the early 1900's.
